Multi-site security for a designer retail chain in Austria
The client
A retail store in Austria selling high-end and designer handbags and accessories needed security following rising retail crime in the area. After a recommendation from one of our established retail clients, they approached Titan Security Europe to enquire about our services.
The contract
During our free initial consultation with the client, they informed us that they would need security officers for ten locations across Austria. The main concerns were high stock losses due to shoplifting and rising threats and abuse toward staff. It was decided that the presence of daytime security staff would significantly deter these escalating threats. The identified duties included:
- Patrolling the store, especially CCTV blind spots, to monitor the behaviour of customers and identify potential perpetrators
- Provide conflict de-escalation if a customer is becoming aggressive towards another customer or a member of staff
- Approach suspected thieves and ask if they require any help, making their presence known
- Report any suspected thefts or assaults to the company and the client
We now provide eight weekly rotas for their stores, alternating between uniformed security officers and plain-clothed store detectives. The benefit of this is that plainclothes store detectives blend in, increasing the chance of catching thieves in the act, whereas uniformed guards stand out and serve as a stronger deterrent. When potential perpetrators are aware that either could be around, they are far less likely to attempt to steal.
The outcome
Because positive results have already been achieved, this has become an ongoing contract that we expect to continue and potentially expand into other stores and countries in the future.
